Women and Social Media – a 7 part exploration

A couple of months ago, Daria (aka @mominmanagement) told me that she was putting together a series on Women and the Executive Image. She wanted to know if I wanted to participate.

Sometimes things happen in your life that are a complete and total blessing, even if you don’t realize the full implications right away. As it happened, Daria’s series, and the other amazing women who participated, opened up a very important dialog about where women are in the business world. Lots of women commented on each post in the series describing their experiences as women in environments traditionally dominated by men.

Inspired by Daria and the conversation she created, I’ve invited seven women to help me write a sequel. This time, the conversation will focus on women and Social Media.

Rather than listening to me talk about this subject, I thought it would be great to bring other women’s voices into the mix. Each of these seven women will post their contribution on their own site, and I will link to it from here. The series will run on Thursdays beginning next week! Here is the line-up you have to look forward to (I can’t wait!)!

This is a great idea and should last past the seven articles. How about a hashtag so we can support the concept and each other?

Hi Brenda,

Hadn't thought about a hashtag, but that's a great idea. My understanding is that WTHashtag was taken down, so I'm not sure we can still register hashtags...did you have any recommendations for one?

Great series of women and talks - if you ever run out of ideas - I am creator/founder of MakeGirlfriends.com; a social networking site where women actually have an outlet to meet.share.inspire.....I have done teleseminars in the past on Empowering Women through Friendships......I call myself the "girlfriend guru"...

I will be on the lookout for your series...
In gratitude,
Nancy

I am honored to be a part of this conversation Margie. Thank you so much for including me and also for continuing the Series idea and expanding it to include other voices and topics. What an amazing line up!

I definitely like this approach much better than Vanity Fair's "Tweethearts" approach to social media. http://www.vanityfair.com/culture/features/2010/02/twitter-201002 Thank you.

Great idea Margie. Looking forward to the series.

I look forward to this series, Margie, et al!

Love this idea Margie. Did you choose the topics too or did your guests come up with them? Looking forward to reading them all but especially Jill Mantywebdesigns and Carol Caroljsroth.

Thanks, Gaby.

All I did was tell the ladies what the series was called. Part of the experiment was to see what they came up with :)

Margie,

Sounds fascinating - really looking forward to the series :)

Cathy

Thanks, Cathy. I am, too :)
